Can anyone tell me the inside diameter of the coolant hoses that attach to the throttle body (also if they are the same size). I suppose I need to know the length of the hose coupling needed as well or if the hoses will butt right up to each other. I am away from my car but have for my unlimited use a beauiful lathe and tons of materials, so I am gonna make me a TB BP kit before I head home tomorrow. :yesnod:
Thanks in advance for any info.
BTW pretty close will be good enough as I can always re-do it if it doesn't fit.
I think 1/4"......cheaper to go to local auto parts for double
barbed hose coupler usually in brass....less than 2.00 and
2 small hose clamps.......$1.00
I didn't need more hose...but had to support it with a hidden
black ty-wrap to keep it off the pulley..... :flag
Thanks for the reply. I probably have a barbed hose coupling here and for sure the clamps. I saw a pic of this piece on a vendors web site but could not determine its size or if it was different than a simple hose coupling.
The best thing you can do is "bypass" the whole idea; not worth the effort! If you do it anyway, forget the metal part and simple run a hose from the radiator to the driver's side head (nipple). Cleaner and easier. :smash:
A new hose from the head nipple (1/4 inch) to the raidaitor nipple (3/8 inch) is easier. Since you live in Washington, and I assume it gets cold there in the winter, and is a humid area, I wouldn"t do it. You could frost up the throttle body and prevent the throttle plate from closing all the way. Go for it next spring when the warm weather is back.
Thanks for the info. I probably will let it go for now....I cannot believe though that the hose barb and 2 hose clamps run $19, just made me kind of want to do it myself!
