EBCM Fix failed. center stud broke
I'm from NYC and I'm new to this forums. This forums has taught me a ton before I purchasing a 2001 C5Z06. I owned this car for about a week and already did the ground cleaning and fixed my climate control light by reflowing the solder. I attempted the EBCM fix because I had the C1214 HC code. when I opened the module, I saw the broken solder point on the circuit board and reflow every point on the board that I could get to.
While removing the module there are six screws total. While removing the two center screws, the head broke off leaving just the stud. I try to use WD40 Rust penetrate spray and vise grips with no luck. I can't get a drill down there with the tight space. The top two and bottom two screws will still hold the EBCM, the only thing i'm concerned about it seem like the top and middle screws help form a seal. I also went to the hardware store and purchased 6 stainless steel hex 4mm x.70 x 20mm to replace the old bolts that hold the module, hoping this situation never happens again.
I guess i'm the only one on to break those bolts, I never seen one person mentioned that part of the fix. Should I reinstall it like that or am I forced to take it to a shop and have them hit me over the head to remove two broken screws. What do you guy recommend?
