I have had it with the marginal OEM radiator. I see most of the Corvette vendors offer an oversized one for $599-650. I suspect they are all selling the same unit from Be-Cool Power Systems. http://www.becool.com/
I have heard that this unit doesn't quite fit into the stock shroud. If you have installed one of these units would you please let me know how it fits?
I am also interested in a real world report on how much better this radiator works.
Re: Has Anyone Installed an Oversized Radiator? (adamsocb)
I was having overheating issues after I installed my P1SC :yesnod: After trying different variations of Dexcool/water with poor results, I finally got fed up with the OEM radiator and I installed a BeCool unit. It's not a straight-forward install as the vendors lead you to believe, especially is you have a SuperCharger installed. The BeCool is twice as thick as the OEM, and I also had to trim quite a bit of plastic from the upper radiator support in order to get my hood to close.
The final result was worth the effort...before the BeCool my temps would go North of 245*, especially in stop-and-go traffic. Now I rarely see temps above 195* :D
In addition to the BeCool, I also upgraded my ATI 1950 CFM fan to a BeCool 2350 CFM fan, also I changed the mixture to 2 bottles of Distilled water, 2 bottles of Water Wetter and the rest with DexCool.
Re: Has Anyone Installed an Oversized Radiator? (adamsocb)
I changed my OEM radiator out for a BeCool on my 2000 with excellent results. No shroud adjustments were required, everything fit perfectly.
I recently installed a DRM radiator with integrated oil cooler on my 2002. It also fits perfectly, even a little better than the BeCool.. again, no cutting of the shroud or anything else.. just bolt it in, close the hood, done...
Best Regards... I HIGHLY recommend the DRM unit, but if you don't need or want the oil cooler, go for the BeCool.. you can get them from Summit for less than many of the Corvette Vendors...

I have the Be Cool for over a year and I like it. IMO, you dont really need one of these unless you are looking for the ultimate cooling for the car. I have ran this radiator in 108 deg heat on the track for 2 days and with the stock thermo and computer programing the temps never got over 192 at any time.
Very soon I will be changing the thermo to a 160 deg. Once the computer is flashed I should be running at about 165 most of the time.
