C1287 Fixed!
C1287. Crap!
First warning I've had on my 03 Vert since I bought it about six months ago.
When I got home I researched it and found out it was a Steering Wheel Position Sensor problem.
Came to the forum and read all about it and saw some of the advice given by the forum gurus.
First thing suggested to do is have an alignment done. I had it done this morning and it was the best 80 bucks I've spent because it fixed it!
Just got back from a 60 mile test trip and no more warning codes!
Vert is back to flawless except for the owner/driver.
Thank you all you Corvette geniuses on this great forum!
At first it was weird. My cruise control started dropping out a couple of months ago. I asked on the forum for ideas on how to fix it. It didn't happen that often so I didn't do anything. It kept getting worse and when I left on the trip last weekend it got so bad I just didn't use it.
I noticed a faint stutter right before the cruise would drop out and happened to notice the "Service Active Handling" warning.
I pressed the active handling button on the console and the little light came on. I set the cruise control and it worked. It didn't drop out as long as the active handling button was on.
When I got home I really did some research and found several people had had the same problem with the cruise dropping out.
Anyway, after the alignment was done this morning the cruise worked flawlessly for 30 miles one way and 30 miles back.
It didn't do that last weekend at all so I'm pretty sure it is fixed.
According to the service manual if the yaw is off a little the warning would come on and suggested an alignment to correct it.
