C5 Door Rattle
My 98 doors rattle when I close them. Like the window glass mechanism inside is loose. Is there a tutorial on how to disassemble the doors and what to tighten up?
Also, my passenger side door hinge seems to bind up when I open it all the way and go to close it. What and how do I adjust them?
For the door hinges I use GM super lube part number 12346241. It is the only thing that seems to work long term for squeaks. It goes on thin and thickens to a Teflon grease. It is handy for a lot of other stuff too.
Only thing I found to help glass rattle was a new outer weatherstrip.
Still, I would first adjust the window so the top edge of the window is between the weatherstrip and inner door panel felt when it is down all the way. Being between those is what gives most of the support to the window.
Had a similar door rattle. In my case it turned out to be the thin plastic access panel. It became brittle over time and broken into shards within the door panel. It sounded like the jingle of shards of broken glass whenever the door was closed or going over bumps.
I've fabricated a replacement panel out of 1/8" plex (really easy) and along with other related work, the door rattle when closing or going over road irregularities are gone.

My driver side is making that awful rattle when you shut the door with the window down. I can't remember how to make the window stop between the felt strips. Any help? Thanks!
