Default C6 Z06 Capiler conversion...

Really quite frustrated...I have seen and read many times of the successful conversion of C5's installing C6 Z06 Calipers. So, I went out and bought what I thought was necessary for this simple "swap".

Finding out it is not as straight forward as I thought. All is installed (calipers, rotors, etc...) but the last part is the brake hoses, caliper to brake line of the car.

Ordered Z06 brake lines from GM and they fit the caliper just fine but the end of the brake hose doesn't fit the brake metal brake line of the car. Had previously replaced the original '00 brake hoses with after market braided hoses. They worked just fine for the OEM brake set up but the fittings aren't compatible for the Z06 caliper.

I am wondering if the "OEM base" brake hoses will fit both the back side of the Z06 caliper as well as the metal brake line. How did all you guys who did this conversion before me handle this?

Really am frustrated...Help!

I would go with Stainless lines and would order from one of the vendors letting them know your plans. Randy at Doug Rippie is great to deal with.

We went the grinding route and made all the connections work...so THANK YOU FOR HELP!

Few of problems:
1. Brake Fluid Light will not go out....not sure if there is a float that may be stuck.
2. My Active Handling Light read out on my CID remains on.
3. My Emergency Brake Light stays on.

OK. I get #1 & #3. Most likely I will need more fluid. I don't see any leaks and I probably didn't connect something in my rear brake set up so I'll look at that...But, why is my AHL now on and stays on? I'll look at all of these tomorrow.

I'm also going to buy the braided brake hoses from Doug Rippe tomorrow. Driving it so far it seems squishy with the OEM hoses.

Any help with these would also be very much appreciated.

Thanks again!
Mark

Someone told me to bleed the outside pistons first.

Agreed you should not be having lights come on. Double check your connections and fluid level.

I have DRM lines waiting to go on my Z06 with a Stillen AP BBK. The Stillen kit is a decade old and I know the calipers have dangled on the lines a few times, so preventive maintenance for a car that will see track time. I had a MovIt Brembo kit on my FRC and did not have any computer problems with either car.

Tell Randy Lamar said hello. He is pretty much a 1 man show running the parts side, so if you get voice mail rather than Randy give him a minute to return the call.

Default My dyslexia got the better of me...

All, in my hurry to post my dyslexia got the better of me. I also just didn't "proof read" my post prior to "posting it". Capilers vs. Calipers!

In any case I last reported on the three issues remaining with the modification:
1. Low Brake Fluid notice on the DIC
2. Active Handling light on the cluster and notification on the DIC
3. Emergency brake light just not going off

Looked at the brake fluid reservoir and it was full. Ran all the codes and there was nothing! That was interesting...

Finally, I puled the plug/harness from the Brake Fluid reservoir and drove it for a few minutes thinking, hey, this is just an old computer. What do we do when our computers seem to tie up, we re-boot. So, I pulled over, plugged the cable/harness back into the Brake Fluid Reservoir and "presto chango" no lights, no warnings, no messages from the DIC.

I turned off the car and re-started and all is back to normal...unbelieveable! It's just an old computer that needed to be re-booted and all is well!

Thank you to everyone who helped and contributed to this effort!
