I don't drive it much, maybe 1500 mi in the last year and a half.
I moved it out of the garage the other morning and when I applied the parking brake, there was no resistance. I can just rack the lever up and down with no application of the parking brake mechanism.
If I put pressure on the lever to the PASSENGER side direction WHILE pulling up, it will grab and apply the brake.
But it will not work if just pulling the lever normally.
Is there a mechanism in the pivot area that is prone to breaking on a "high mileage" car?
Just looking for ideas before I pull the center console/seat or whatever it takes to get to it.
There is a racheting mechanism to take the slack out of the cable. As posted, old dried up grease can make it stick and not ratchet. So, take the lever assembly out, wash out the old grease and re-lube it.
