Well, my solenoid finally said no more after 9 years of longtubes beating on it. I've got TPIS Ceramic longtubes on the car.
Do I need to fully remove them to replace the starter, or can they be unbolted and moved without fully removing (and pulling the plugs and wires too)? Looks pretty tight, and I don't have a lift. So will be doing the job w the car on jackstands and backsliding on the ol' creeper.
Thanks and Happy New Year- 97C5

you should be able to just loosen the passenger header from the head and let in hang... I'd suggest a bosch sr8581n as a replacement and it would also be a good idea to cover the body, solenoid, and wiring with adhesive heat wrap to protect it from the radiant heat from your headers...
When I do my headers sometime soon. Should I just put a new starter on there just to be safe anyway?
I would IF you haven't updated the starter and bolt to the 2 Long Style bolt setup.. I did when I did my headers.. I also cleaned and heat insulated all the wiring there as well.
The labor is pretty much done. It's just some more parts.

I did when I put my clutch in... considering all the labor involved to replace it if it were to fail (if you have headers), the extra $120 or so for the starter and heatshield wasn't really a big deal since I had it apart already
