Default Sticky clutch pedal

2000 C5 MT 73k

The clutch pedal will sometimes fail to completely return. It is off and on that it does this. Sometimes I have no issues at all and then sometimes it does it relentlessly. I have read some of the posts concerning this issue but would like some clarification. Also I read Rangers article on clutch care.

Are the braking and clutch systems independent?

Will simply changing the fluid correct the issue?

If I need to replace a cylinder which one or both?

What fluid has everyone decided is best? It is a daily driver.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this!

man, must be a epidemic of this lately! (just ran into this on mine 3 week ago). Tons and tons of info on this (google "sticky clutch c5 corvette" and you will get at least 5 hours worth of reading ). Some will say that simply replacing the fluid in the reservoir worked for them. If that works for you then that would be the best case scenario FOR SURE! Could be the mc, but if yours is like mine (and many others) its the stupid *^%###$ing slave cylinder . That is a PITA to replace. I thought about doing it myself, but with the garage crammed up with all our summer stuff and the weather turning cold, i didn't really want to be on my back on the cold concrete during my Christmas vacation/weekends tackling it (almost decided to go for it, but the wife talked me out of it after restoring 2 vintage cars and pretty much living in the shop!). And to answer your questions, yes, braking system and clutch are separate. I use Prestone Dot 4 in both systems for mine, but you will surely get different opinions. As far as replacing, MC is definitely easier. Slave is a whole different ball o' wax, but at least you can do a ton of other stuff as well if you need to while you are in there (ie clutch, pilot bearing, remote bleed line, shaft seals, etc). Good luck! praying for you brother that the new fluid will fix ya up

Do you want me to salute you? 15 years on the forums and you're still useless? Guess that 15 years did nothing for your knowledge on the subject. If you have nothing to useful to add to this thread list kindly go be useless elsewhere.

Also, because you obviously did not read my post, I stated I read a bunch of posts concerning this issue as well as reading rangers article concerning clutch care.
