Default Question about code C1226 ?

I read where code C1226 could be caused by a loose or corroded right front wheel connector. Is it possible I could have jolted it loose when my front end fell off the ramps ? I haven't driven the car since it fell off the ramps but when I started it this morning I got a C1226 code. My car is going in for repair next week to have my passenger front fender replaced. I'm wondering if I should have them check the wheel connector. Thanks for your comments. Forgot to mention my other codes this morning were U1096, U1064 and U1016. I looked them up and read where they were loss of communications and I shouldn't be concerned.

That connector is located behind the hub and fastened to a bracket that is bolted to the knuckle (upright/spindle, etc). How far did your car drop off the ramp? I doubt if the connector itself was damaged but the wiring harness may have been damaged where it joins the main body of the car.

As the previous poster indicated the only way this code should have shown up was if the car had been driven enough for the EBCM to initiate a diagnostic and see the unexpected signal.

Since you state that you have not driven the car since it slipped off the ramps, then that is NOT the cause of the C1226. That is NOT to say that slipping off the ramps did not damage the wheel speed connector or wiring. It simply means that the C1226 occurred when the car was in motion which would have been BEFORE the ramp incident.

Causes for the C1226 are incomplete connection of the two connector halves. This can be because of corrosion or loose connection or deformed pins in the connector or damaged wiring before or after the connector. Here is a pic of the pins in a new (left) vs deformed (right) the wheel speed connector:

If you are not capable of examining the wiring and/or the connector for the wheel speed sensor on the right front then have some one do it for you.

When code C1226 occurs the ABS as well as TC and AH are disabled for the duration of the current ignition cycle.
I did pull the car back up on the ramps and check the right front wheel sensor from the inside of the wheel, I did not remove the wheel. The connector looked fine, no signs of corrosion and the pins looked fine. I plugged the connector back in and cleared the codes. After taking the car for a short drive everything was normal, no codes. I pulled back in the garage shut it off and restarted still no codes. My car goes into the body shop Monday to have the right front fender replaced and they have agreed to test the front wheel sensor and see if it is functioning correctly. I will at least find out if anything happened when my car fell off the ramps. If the problem is connected to the fall then insurance will pay otherwise it's on me.

I am also getting this code, should it turn out to be the wheel speed sensor what is involved in replacing it? I heard it's hard wired to the hub. Couldn't find a thing on ewetoob.

[QUOTE=8VETTE7;1597359962]WSS are near bullet proof.

They are also a part of the hub and not something you can buy separately. At least as far as I know. Most likely cause of the code is damaged wiring before or after the connector or damaged/deformed pins in the connector. If the wiring before or after the connector is damaged it is often able to be repaired/spliced. If not then you replace the hub.

Thanks a million. I did buy a new sensor before I found out it can't be replaced so I'm stuck with it. Even if it was replaceable it would be stupid to not replace the hub if you take it off.

I'm pretty sure I got my brakes very hot on track day a few weeks ago, it was shortly after that the light came on so there may be an issue with the wiring or connector.
