how do you tell gm z06 wheels from repro's? Is there a gm stamp on the inside of the rim or something? i tried an archive search but didn't get anything.
I know mine are stamped with "Speeline" but I know they changed maunfacturers' and am not sure of the vendor for the newer ones, but that is what you'd look for I believe
I have the c5 wheel and on every wheel on the back of one of the spokes is stamped GM and a part number of some sort. I assume they would do te same on the z06 wheels
There is a GM "stamp" on the inside of the original factory rims. The factory rims have ever so slightly thinner "spokes" than the repro's we sell. Our repro's are about 2lbs heavier each wheel than stock. There are polished and chrome factory wheels rolling around out there,,, we've made sure of that :D But if you put a set of chromed GM rims next to a set of repro chrome rims I bet you couldn't tell them apart ;)
Yes, the GM wheels have a stamp on the inside. My repros have the size etched on the inside lip - easy to see if you look at the back side of the wheel. Also, my repros - the inside of the wheel (behind the spokes) is machined with grooves running around the wheel. Hard to describe, but very obvious if you see one. Hope this helps.
I think on the 18' Repo wheels they come in different sizes 18x11 , 18x10 and 18x9.5 where the originals 18' come only one size 18x10 ,correct me if Iam wrong !

You are sort of right. The repros can be bought in both Z06 and non-Z06 sizes. 18X10.5 for Z06 rear, 17X9.5 front. Non-Z06 are one inch narrower at both ends. My repros are the Z06 size.
01 wheels are made by alcoa and they have thinner spokes than 02-03 also these wheels dont actually have casting marks they are sortof engraved on the inside like a electic pencil.these wheels are forged alloy.....02-03 wheels are spun cast which is stronger than regular cast and these wheels are made by speedline(italy) these wheels have "gm" and the part number actually cast in the wheel i now have a reproduction wheel on mine and they look great although a little heavy :yesnod:
