Default My thoughts after installing X pipe.

I took a chance and spent the money for an X pipe to go with my Magnaflow catback system. The gurgle when shifting gears is very mild compared to the H pipe. I was hoping for an improvement in 6th gear drone on the highway, that didn't happen. I know many have said Corsa is the only system that is drone free. At this point I can't spend any more money so I will just have to stay in 5th on the highway. Running in 5th does not bother my head but in 6th I can only stand a few minutes. I think on my next highway run I will try my foam ear plugs and see if that makes any difference. On a positive note the Magnaflow Catback and Magnaflow X pipe have a nice fit and finish. I might add the X pipe took almost 2 months to get because of being on back order.

I had Borla's on the car when I purchased it back in Dec.2010. By March of 2011 the Borla's were gone i favor of Stock mufflers because the Borla's were driving me nuts with the drone. I lived the with the stock mufflers until April of last year. I read a lot of posts in regards to drone and I took the advice of several members and purchased the Corsa Sport Cat Back along with the X-pipe. Needless to say I couldn't be happier , not only with the sound but NO MORE DRONE.

The Corsa X pipe made a big difference with my Borla Atak, with an automatic, drone is not bad at all and the car screams when it is WOT, The only exhaust that I would trade or move into would be the Corsa extremes.
I could not take that gurgling at idle, thank God that is gone

When I purchased my c5 it had a 1st gen borla type s cat back. It droned bad...headache after every drive. I swapped in a set of tis and sold the borlas for the same amount. The tis were certainly quieter but no drone. Now with longtubes and a cam they sound great...noticeable and idle and normal driving and sound great when you press the go pedal.

I love my Borla Stingers and x-pipe. It's never given me a headache.

Before that, I had QTP exhaust cutouts on the factory h-pipe. Now that's what I call a bad droning, and gurgling motor boat idle. Yuk.

Hello Everyone,

When the C5 Corvette first came out, we released aggressive sounding systems for it, but they did drone... They were very popular systems, however, we recognized the fact that a lot of our customers wanted an aggressive sounding system that did NOT drone. That said, in 2011, we went back and designed new systems for the C5 using newer technology to eliminate the drone. This newer technology is what we now use in all of our exhaust systems.

If you take a look at what we offer for the C5 on our website, you will see "S-Type Classic" systems, an "S-Type II" system, & an "ATAK" system... https://www.borla.com/chevy-corvette...haust-systems/

S-Type Classic = Older Systems
S-Type II = Newer System (NO drone)
ATAK = Newer System (NO drone)

We still sell the "S-Type Classic" systems because they are still popular, but we always recommend the "S-Type II" & "ATAK" systems to those that do NOT want drone.

Customer satisfaction is very important to us and so is addressing drone. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 1-877-462-6752 (Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm PST).

Thank you for your time.

Very little drone with my Borla Atak and Magnaflow X-pipe combo, I love it. Just swapping out the H-pipe for an X-pipe will not get rid of the drone but it will cure the burble motorboat sound.

great post.

Fyi I have Magnaflow Quad tip axle-back. pretty happy with this set, not sure how it compares to the Borla's current offerings?

I believe at one time my car had the borla stingers. maybe these were too loud or bad drone not really sure.
