Default Stock radio connector question...

I am continuing to look into installing a single DIN radio in my 2002 Z06. I've reviewed a number of installation videos, however I have not seen what happens with the two white connectors shown on the left in the second photograph. They normally are inserted into the receptacles pointed out into first photo.

The videos I have seen only address the larger connector (shown on the right side of the second photo). Apparently, most aftermarket radios require that you adapt the OEM connectors to the new one, but danged if I understand what happens with the 2 smaller white connectors.

Any clarification will be greatly appreciated. If there's a good video out there that clearly shows how those two connectors are utilized please share a link. Thanks!

The short answer is that is does not matter. If you buy a PAC or Axxes adapter harness, it is plug-n-play. The unused OEM connectors will trip a "Radio - No Comm" code, but that is all.

Any unused connectors are not needed for an aftermarket radio installation if the harness adapter doesn't connect to them. That is the way it is in every car.

Most likely those connectors are for the CD changer and/or some other car/BCM communication, like the theftloc system.

Thanks, JCGunn. So, if I do this single DIN installation, and those connectors are left disconnected to the cars systems, will I now get DIC messages and throw codes?

You will get a code, but it won't appear in the DIC unless you use the method for pulling codes.

I used the Axxess adapter on my 03 Z06 and I did not hook up those 2 white connectors to anything and I do not get any codes, so you may or may not get a code. Worked perfectly on mine.

FYI: Depending on what head unit you get, and what style mounting adapter you buy for the head unit, you may have to remove that horizontal aluminum brace in your picture. On mine, I wanted the head unit to be flush with the adapter/dash, not stick out, so I removed the brace for added depth I needed.
