Ipc problems
Driving car (1998) for a distance, approx 1-2 hours the ipc flips out, power drops out, guages "peg" out to max, shudders and then goes away until the next time ---problem is intermittent, usually on out of town trips
any clues what is going on??

I have a similar issue but my is triggered by a high voltage warning then the IPC freaks out like yours.
I am waiting for it to warm up as I was told it could be the starter solenoid or the wire from alternator PIN d to the solenoid which is a fusible link.
Otherwise check all your grounds.
