Very vague question. Have you tried cleaning the maf at all? Any codes?
Had the problem couple of months ago. Cleaned the MAF. Still had the problem. Replaced the entire MAF. Ran okay for a month then started same missing or pausing during driving. Unplugged the MAF and it is okay again. Could it be bad wiring or the PCM? Both times caused the code P0102 to appear and check engine light went on. Really annoying.
Di you check the ground wire in the sensor harness? With the car running wedge a nail on the ground wire and Using a VOM check for continuity with a known ground. Years ago I somehow had a bad sensor ground, went to AutoZone picked up a replacement wire, went back to where there was a sharp bend on the harness, cut it off there, soldered in the new harness extension, taped it and plugged it in. Running great since.
Thanks for the info. I heard this solution from someone else a few weeks ago. Do you know which one is the ground, black? The 2002 vet is known for bad grounds.
The harness I bought was about 18" long with the connector to the MAF. My problem area was about 12-13" from the connector. I cut the last 4" of the wiring and then matched the wires color for color. That way it did not matter which was ground.
