I have an 02 C5 that was originally delivered in Canada. The twilight sentinel cannot be turned off or adjusted. This was fine in the summer, but it is a pain, especially running lights up at the drags.
Anyone know of how to modify it so it works like a US car or turn it off without affecting the normal operation of the lights?
Whoa, hang on there. Before you start pulling apart the dash and soldering in resistors, there's a very simple way to disable the Twilight Sentinal.
Simply pull one relay from the fuse panel and no more Twilight Sentinal. Your headlights only come up when you decide to turn them on. I already did this on another member's Canadian car earlier this year.
Under the passenger side floormat is the I/P Fuse/Relay Panel. By removing Relay #44 from the panel, Twilight Sentinal is disabled. This relay is squarish, and located directly below fuse #5.
The hardest part of "fixing" this feature is pulling the relay. I used channel lock pliers with a rag between the jaws and the relay to prevent damage. Squeeze the pliers firmly while rocking the relay side to side and pulling.
Thanks Tim, I'm going to try that. I never did try the resistor fix listed above because I thought it might be too much trouble. Your "pull the relay" solution sounds much easier. :yesnod:

I dropped dealer early in this year and it took just five minutes. It's so easy.
I hope it helps.

Anyone who owns a vette in or from Canada knows that we cannot disarm the "twilight Sentinel" on the DIC,..... But I found the code that need s to be deactivated on the BCM, it will only take your dealer 5 min. to do, then you can turn the "twilight sentinel" ON and OFF as you like. I had it done today!!!! htis is what needs done:
go to your dealer, and have them hook a "tech 2" to your vette "it is handheld"
go to options, it will ask if the car has the "RPO Z49" yes or no (canadian vettes are the only ones with this RPO)
enter "no"
Next it will ask if you have options:
Real time Damping
active handling
auot headlamp control
etc. (thier is 6 options it ask for) enter yes to the option you have, hit save, exit. your done.!!!!
then go to your DIC, go to "options"
select "twilight on " hit reset, and it is off!!!!!!!!!!!
