has anyone tried the cheaper detector mounts? I bought a cheaper one and the stem on the mirror seems to be to short for it to fit properly. It makes adjusting the mirror impossible. Does anyone with the blendmount have this problem? I would hate to shell out the money for the blendmount and still have the same issue.
I found that removing the suction cups on the stock mount and using double-sided tape worked best. Mine is positioned next to the mirror in front of the sun visor mount. Easy to see from inside, very hard to see from outside.

I have also used the 3M double sided tape to mount several Passport RDs over the years with good success.
But I have had a couple fall off the glass in very hot weather in the SW.
So now I use a thin coat of RTV silicone between the sanded back of the metal mount and the very well cleaned glass. I just use blue tape to hold the metal mount to the glass while the RTV sets up. Not a single failure using the RTV.
