Default Fuel Level Sender Part # - Same for both tanks?

After battling the fuel gauge issue with bottle after bottle of Techron and doing the software reflash at the dealer, I've decided that I'll replace the sending units and be done with it.

My question is are you supposed to use the same sending unit for each tank? Part # 10333749 is what I come up with for the sending unit and everywhere I look it up, it shows that it's for the left tank. What has everyone done for the sending unit in the right tank?

There are several types (long arm, short arm, pre-FFS and post FFS) and some have the same part number. The best thing to do is remove both to make sure you get the right part.

In order to determine what you need in way of fuel level sensors, you need to post up the year of you car, as there several different fuel level sensors configurations based on the C5 generation.

For parts look-up go here and enter your car info.
http://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/cat...log_search.php

Normally the Left Tank Sensor is "field replaceable" but the Right Tank is not and normally sold as an assembly including the jet/syphon pump and fuel level sensor.

Troubleshooting Recommendation> Before doing any fuel level sensor replacements, pull the codes and post up your codes as this will help you "get a fix the first time".
Cheers,
Goose

Thank you for all the replies, not sure how I forgot mention that the car is an 02 Z06.

I did pull the codes and got P0461 (left sensor) and P1431 (right sensor) and according to the service manual, the PCM will set those codes if the below if any of the below conditions are met:

- No fuel transfer between fuel tanks - Not the case, I can get 300 miles out of a fill up under the current condition
- The left side fuel level sensor cannot obtain a predetermined upper threshold - I've not diagnosed this yet
- The right side fuel level sensor cannot obtain a predetermined upper threshold - I've not diagnosed this yet
- The left fuel level sensor is stuck in the full position - Without removing the sensor yet I cannot confirm this

The service manual has a diagnosis check list that I'll follow to help pin point exactly what's going on

Another issue I've had with the car is that when I fill up, the fuel gauge never reads more than 7/8 of a tank. When filling up the car I can see fuel bubbling up at the top of the fuel filler and I've let the car sit for a minute before trying to add more fuel and at that point I'm hardly able to add more. I'd imagine the two issues are related.

Thanks again for the help!

My 02 Z06 acts like yours - only 7/8 tank MAX. Did you ever fix it? Did you determine if both sides are the same part?

Both sides have a different part #. I have replaced both of mine and it is the whole fuel pump assy for the left tank and the Jet siphon pump assy for the right

I take it you chose not to just replace the level sensors, or could you not find just those parts? I seem to find just the sensors being available for both sides.

Since they're discontinued what is everyone using now? I am getting ready to do a fuel pump upgrade figure I replace the sensor while I am in there.

Well the second one (19418849) is available the first one is out of stock. But I am curious if they sell the sensor itself alone or do you have to buy the complete fuel pump with it. I bought a LPE / Racetronix 255 so really don't need the oem pump.
