I pose a question to you experts out there. If I increase the size of my tires to accommodate larger wheels and have a 26.9mm (1.059055")difference between the front tires and the rear tires is that difference enough to cause a problem with the cars computer controls?
Also, does changing the overall diameters of the front tires and rear tires throw off the speedometer? In other words, if I change tire size from 265/35/19 to 265/40/19 does the circumference change cause any problems?
Pretty sure I already know the answers but like I said experts only!
In general the rear tires need to be .5 inch to 1.5 inches taller the the front for no traction control problems, some people get away with more difference. As far as your speedometer, yes tire diameter will affect it, that can be corrected with tuning software.
I might not be an expert, but I profess to be Mr. Know-it-all. BTW, I've run 18 x 18 wheels with no problem. Made up the stagger in the tire sizes, no problem with this for years. I have just upgraded to 19's front and rear, F14's.
To answer you original question, why would you want to put 265/40x19 tires on the Corvette, much too tall a tire for regular driving. Since we do not know the wheel size you are running it is hard to make any knowledgeable recommendation. For example I am running 18x9.5 wheels on the front and 19x10.5 wheels in the back with 275/35x18 tires in the front and 305/30x19 in the rear with no problem.
