Default Gas Pedal Removal

How is the gas pedal retained on the pedal lever? Feeling behind it it seems like there is a clevis/dowel pin that the pedal swivels on? Im looking to machine a custom pedal with the correct offset and geometry to heel toe, and just want to make sure I copy the factory mounting.

Have you looked at the Elite Engineering pedals for the C5? I just installed their gas pedal and dead pedal and can tell you the factory gas pedal is held on by a press fit pin. The easiest way to remove the pin is with a small c-clamp and a small socket. Put the socket over the head of the pin and use the c-clamp to push the pin into the socket. Once you do that just use a pair of pliers or vise grips to grab the head of the pin and pull it the rest of the way out.

Here's what the Elite pedals look like.

The problem with the elite pedal is that they charge $100 for it. I get its a business and it costs money for tooling, I just have the mill and billet to make one so I figured why not. Among that, people say that the offset from the brake still make heel toeing difficult for street driving.
