Default 2003 Vette automatic transmission fluid question

I have a 03 Vette and want to change the tranny fluid. I suppose it has Dexos III and can only find Dexos VI synthetic as a replacement. Since I am only changing the filter and pan gasket all of the fluid will not be remove. My question can you mix the two fluids. Thanks

Jim

DEX VI is compatible with all other older fluids.. Just do it..
You'll need about 5-6 quarts if I remember..
the fill procedure is very specific, so make sure you do that right

What brand of Dex IV are you going to use? And are you sticking to the AC delco filter?

I don't know if you have done this before on these transmissions but over tightening the pan gasket makes them leak.....I had to buy an inches torque wrench to control the urge to make it tight.

Thanks to you all for the feed back. I am very thankful for this forum and you experts!
I am using the ACDelco filter and gasket. I read the thread on how to warm up the fluid, open the side drain remove pan(take shower in tranny fluid), remove filter and seal and replace all and replace pan/gasket with proper torque. ReFill pan while engine off, start engine and add remaining fluid to drain/fill hole. Correct?

I meant to say that I am using ACDelco Dextron VI ATF full synthetic.
My 03 Anniversary has 38k Miles so I assume it is the original fluid. I suppose it is time to change on age rather than mileage?.

You don't have to warm up or anything to drain.. Just get it level and big drain
pan.. Remove pan bolts and let er drain a while.. Then remove filter and let drain...
Clean up all components.. Refill pan to fill hole.. Start engine and fill
to fill hole again.. Wait til DIC reads about 120* before you reinstall drain plug'
As fluid heats up, some will come out fill hole... And that's it
