didnt want to clog up nsogiba topic (looking forward to seeing that one running)
a little about whats going on
i have a 01 c5z that i modded car ran really good made great power for what it was until my timing chain let go so pulled it a part to repair it when installing the last head bolt final torque the hole stripped out
a while back i bought a 6.2 that i was going to install in my 2004 silverado (zo6 was running great so no plans on swapping engines until now)
so now im wanting to put the 6.2 in my c5z
i plan on having the block done with forged H beam rods and pistons, the cam in my ls6 i dont think would be enough for the 6.2 btr stg 2 ls1 227/234 .614"/.576" 113+2 so looking for advice on a cam
also will the new parts i just bought work on the 6.2?
timing chain?
oil pump?
my 42lb injectors?
my h/c/i bolt'on ls6 made 475/415 rw id hate to do all this and make less power this 6.2 will just have stock heads (upgraded springs) stock intake (unless i can budget a fast 102)
Wow sorry to here the misfortune. Whooo boy ok trying ot remember all the parts I used when I had my stroker built. For sure the cam is too small for a 6.2. I had Geoff Skinner out of EPS due a custom grind for me. I went with a LS2 timing chain, a blue printed oil pump from Scogg and Dickey, and I believe my FIC 42lb injectors came from Texas Speed. Believe it or not, I kept my 243 heads and sent them off to TEA for a stage 2 job. While good, still not enough air for a 418(smh). I do have a FAST 92 and I was able to keep my stock fuel rails. Make sure you have the 24x reluctor and not a 58x if its going in a C5Z.
The L92 valley cover has o-rings in it to disable the DoD, it does NOT have the "maze" in it
alternatively you can drill and tap those oil towers and plug them (I did it with 1/8" NPT). obviously do this while the engine is totally disassembled, preferably upside down so the chips don't fall into the oil galleys
Yes, you can. On my 78,000 mile 6.2 the o-rings were smashed pretty flat so I bought a new cover anyways. Probably overkill but sure beats having to fight internal oil pressure loss problems when I fire up the new engine after all that work.
I haven't figured that out on my swap yet. Probably going to run the hose from the valve cover into a catch can, then route that into the intake manifold.
was able to pick up a fast 102mm on the cheap should be here in a few days, today from a local guy parting out a SS TB i picked up front ls2 cover, cam sensor & 1x cam gear for $20
waiting to here back from the machine shop before i order the rotating assembly
