so machine shop just sent me pics of the block im building 6.2L stroking out to 416 forged for some nitrous
this was honed out to 4.06950 some light marks left in it (plans on making it 4.070) i was told not to go over the 4.070 since i want to spray nitrous his telling me lets take it to 4.072 or 4.075
so whats best? would what you see in the pics hurt power? oil consumption? run it like that or go bigger?
if we take it to 4.072 and stick a 4.070 pistons in it how bad is that?

There are no oversized rings but they have file to fit but thats for the end gap. the piston and ring must match the bore so from my understanding it will not work.
if the bore is 4.072 then you need pistons and rings made for 4.072 Smaller and the gap is too large and will slap around in the bore and the first time you fire it up could be a nightmare., larger and they will not fit in the bore. take into consideration that piston is doing an extremely important job and the tolerances have to be exact or you lose compression or you burn a ton of oil.
just going 4.070 and putting it together after showing the pics to a dew guys they told me it shouldn't be a problem since its such minor scaring
to be safe I would take a trip and run your fingernail across it and see if it gets stuck, it may be minor but it could cause some oil consumption or compression loss, you dont want to put it all together and have an issue, then be stuck getting it pulled again and rebuilt.
as long as your builder puts in piston and rings for that bore size you have no worries but it has to be for that size nothing bigger or smaller.
