Just had the flexplate replaced, which involved removing the rear end.
Now, the transmission side linkage adjuster clip keeps popping out.-- so i have a couple questions:
1. Can you buy just plastic assembly w/o the whole cable, if so, part number/source?
2. In the attached photo (just an internet photo, not mine), one shows a red plastic thing that would appear to hold the adjusment clip down. The top one doesn't. Mine looks like the top -- the adjustment clip only, no red thing holding it down. Is it supposed to have that red thing?
Basically -- the adjustment works correctly, but after moving the gear shift through all the positions, the square clip has popped back out.
the little plastic ring at the front side of the linkage assembly is loose on mine, obviously shouldn't be -- it just slides up the cable. (circled on the other attachment)
Anybody know if the plastic end can be separated from the steel part of the cable? I have a zip tie at the moment keeping the lock in place... working, but not my favorite solution...
That happened to me in the dead of night on my '04. All of the sudden - gears gone, reverse only. I was cursing the Chevy engineers, I'll tell ya. I bought the whole cable for $120 and paid a mechanic a C-note.
