Exhaust pipe broke at flange.....
I need a place in the Tampa are that can get my vet in on a lift and pull down the existing exhaust and weld the flange back together. The flange after the cats but before the muffler.
Any suggestions?
It would be great if I can get it in first thing in the morning and have it back the same day.
i am assuming these are ur borlas we had the same problem on the stock exhaust system they did not break just leaking horibly is this a big stress point or what?
Should be any easy fix, this happened to me with my stock H-pipe. My buddy at Meineke got it on a lift and welded it up in a few minutes. He said the factory welds looked quite weak. He reinforced the other side with a couple extra spot welds while he had the car on the lift, this might be something to think about.
This is a known defect in the stock exhaust and has happened to several members here. There may be a TSB out on it. You may want to try the dealer and get it fixed for free if it's the stock part of your exhaust.

Good idea on getting the other side reinforced. I will make sure they do it.

Isn't there a website that I can goto that shows all the TSB's for my year of vet?
I have the same problem right now. Took it to Midas first just ot get it on the lift and they told me they thought it should be covered by warranty. So I took it to the dealer and they said no. Am now waiting for x-pipe from Exit28 to get around that problem
Kinda' weird. I just had the H-pipe out flushing the clutch line and saw the exact same thing on the Driver side flange. I just put on a Magnaflow X-pipe and took care of the problem. My exhaust is also a lot smoother sounding now also. If only the Corsa flanges wern't junk, I'd have a better seal. Sorry to here. Have em' welded or upgrade. X-pipe was $259 from a vendor here.
Went to Meineke this morning and was in and out in less than 1 hour for $30. Plus I had them spot weld the other side just in case.
Did they do this with the exhaust on or off the car? If on, then how did they get to the top part of the flange? Mine just broke last weekend and I was planning on taking the exhaust off to have it welded.

Help!
Mike
They put it on a lift and did it in the air with a mig welder. I guess with the mig welder they can get to the top part of the pipe to weld it.
Same thing happened to mine a few weeks ago. Poor GM spot welding. Had it fixed for $30. You should do both of the mufflers when you get yours repaired.
Glad you got it fixed, but I thought that the exhaust system had an extended warranty on the exhaust system in excess of the 3yr/36K, because it was smog related equipment. Something like 80K miles. Maybe I'm mistaken.
