So, where to start. I have a 01 C5 that was completely stock 3 weeks ago and ran flawlessly. Being that stock power wasn’t enough I decided to do some upgrades. First I found a local mechanic that appeared to be experienced with LS engines and specifically corvettes. I made the assumption that this was a quality shop from appearance ( there was several hundred thousand dollars setting in parking lot in the form of corvettes). I decided I would do full exhaust, vararam cai, and mild cam(224). The owner of the shop told me the cam was the hottest he would run with stock torq converter and estimated it to be a 2 day project plus tuning. This was great because i needed it back 3 weeks for the rod runs (car show). I dropped it off on a Thursday confident that I was going to be more than pleased. Well surprise surprise, 3 weeks and several phone calls later it was the friday of the car show and it still was not finished. I was told at 4pm I could pick it up but I would have to bring it back after show for some finish tuning. Specifically that the trans was missing it shift points at wot but just mildly noticeable. So I get the car and within the first 10 min I noticed a exhaust rattle like it’s bumping something under acceleration and turning right. Then I decide to try the power. I was told to just let off slightly from first to second. But what really happens is it will not shift until you let off completely and if you try getting back on the pedal fast it slips. I called mechanic back and he said he would adjust the rattle but the trans would probably need rebuilt. Which seems a bit drastic for what was changed and the fact that the trans had absolutely no issues prior to be dropped off at the shop. Is it possible the problem was caused by the mechanic. Sorry so long
