Hi, thanks for taking the time to read this. I have 2003 c5, it's an automatic transmission. About 5 and a half months ago I had the transmission replaced with a brand new transmission, yesterday while I left to go to work, I put the car in reverse, pushed the gas and the car did not move. I turned off the car and tried again, but got the same result no movement in reverse (the car still moves forward) I started the car again and tired it but again, it would not go in reverse. With the car still on I moved from reverse to D and "felt" the car engage, I moved it back up to reverse and the car wanted to move and did so a little but stopped and would move backwards no more. I am having it towed to the shop tomorrow. Does anyone have an ice of what could or might be wrong? The car was perfectly fine before this happened, this issue occurrd with no warning. Again any advice would be of great hanks.
If it's going to the transmission shop, they'll find the problem in a hurry. It could be that the reverse clutch pack is worn out, seems unlikely if the trans was new six months ago, or it could be a problem in the valve body. Clutch pack repair could be costly unless you have a warranty. A Valve body problem should be a simple fix.

Tbrowne, Thanks for your input. I talked to the repair shop today (the same shop who put in the new transmission in November of last year) the tech told me they took the car out on the road and there was a clanking sound coming from the transmission, and it felt like it was slipping, he said he was going to drain the transmission fluid and see if there are any metal shavings or parts in it. He has only thus far said, he thinks it' the transmission. Though he did say there are still a few things he wants to check out. I would hate for it to be the transmission, the only plus side is the one put in, in November is still under warranty. If the transmission is bad, will there be clanking sounds coming from it? This is my first Corvette, so I'm new to this. I have owned it for a year and a half and have onky had to have the transmission changed, though I was kind of shocked because the car only had less than 73500 miles on it when I bought it. All in all though it' a great car, I just hope it's nothing serious and that they take the time to find the true cause, thanks so much again for your input
If the car won't reverse but will move forward, then the problem has to be the transmission. A broken sunshell, very common with 4L60e, might make some noise but transmissions aren't generally loud. Did you notice a check engine light on the dash or pull the diagnostic codes after you found there was a problem? Knowing what codes might have been thrown could help. That aside, the best way to find the problem is to pull the pan and check for metal shavings or clutch material. The presence of either of the two will necessitate a transmission rebuild or replacement. I think most shops would immediately pull the pan for inspection once the car had been driven and a problem with the trans was verified.
