Alrighty guys. I am really looking into mounting an android tablet or Microsoft surface or something of that nature into my car in place of the deck/radio. I would love to see anyone else's install of such a nature. Whether its apple or android, etc. I want it to almost look like a Tesla ya know? I would relocate the hvac controls lower in place of the cigarette lighter & ashtray.
Secondly, I would like to see phone mounts. Where have ya'll mounted your phone holder? I have a Galaxy S8 & am looking into getting a wireless holder/charger.
Any other electronic adaptations, integrations, etc I would love to see to get ideas on what I want to do next. Thanks guys!
You might have a look at Pro Clip USA. They have vehicle-specific mounting systems for many cars, including the C5 Corvette. I prefer adapting magnetic style mounts rather than their phone-specific adapters.
Here's what I did in my C7. I know that Pro Clip has a similar mount for the C5:
to start with I purchased a mount from Pro-Clip USA, their item #855034. To this I attached a surplus Garmin mount (Fleabay) with automotive grade two sided trim tape (I used the Garmin gimbal-style mount so I could adjust to avoid glare):
I then attached the female side of the Garmin mount to a spare piece of black plastic:
I then attached two magnets to the front side of the piece of black plastic:
Now I mounted two steel mounting plates to the back of a thin ipad 'skin':
Voila!
This a 'dedicated' Ipad mini with AT&T WIFI. FWW I also use a magnetic 'quick disconnect' style charging cable:
