Default 2002 in storage

Due to illness and other issues. We have just recently discovered a family member has an 02 that has been sitting in the garage since 2009. My question is can any local mechanic go through this car or should I bring it to a shop that specializes in restoration? I know not to attempt to start it and I believe all fluids will need to be flushed, it’s in NH and not sure if any little critters have made homes, but I do know it’s pretty moldy.
Any advice and ball parks of costs would be great.
Chris

Welcome to the forum, Chris!
While any mechanic can go through the car, it is almost always best to use someone who has a good Corvette background.
You may want to post this in the Regional section of the forum and see if a forum member near you can recommend a good shop to send the car to. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-discussion-9/
Without photos it's hard to tell how bad a condition the car is in. The C5s are pretty durable cars, and it's possible fresh fluids, fresh gas, and changing spark plugs may get it to fire right up. You definitely want to change the tires, too. You know the tires are at least 18-19 years old and probably older. Even if the tread looks good you will have a lot of internal dry rot.
Best wishes with your endeavors.

This is my thought too. Tires, fluids, fresh gas and you should be ready for a test fire. Once you get it going you need to check your brakes.

I'll be your car bounces back pretty quickly.
