Recently read somewhere that the valve cover caps are actually part of the transmitter to send the tire pressures to the monitor. Anybody know if this is true? If so I’m going to have to get rid of the aftermarket caps and find some originals. 1998 C5 convert with original wagon wheels
I had a shop try to tell me that my metal caps would interfere with the transmitter and that they put plastic caps on to prevent this. I asked for my caps back and the guy who told me about the problem conveniently had them in his pocket.
I've used multiple types of caps with no issues. Could they? I guess anything is possible but if they are working fine then there is no issue.
I think that's BS.. Aftermarket metal caps on my 98 - no problems.
I recently replaced all 4 TPMS in my 98.
All 4 were original (20 years old). 3 were still working fine! The 4th died a year ago, but would occasionally 'zombie' for a few days and work fine!
