Default Help with MSD wire set

Anybody solve the problem with plug wires touching the header pipe for number 4 & 5 cyclinders? Or a suggestion. I had heard of the problem last year and made sure they didn't touch by turning the 90 degree boot at the coil in such a way as to pull the plug end away from the header. I checked them every so often & thought the problem was solved. I stopped checking after several months. The boot on the plug end makes direct & continuous contact with the header pipe and dries out the silicone and then the insulation of the wire itself cracked right where the boot & the wire meet. This in turned caused a bad misfire. I put 2 stock wires on waiting for replacement MSD's to arrive. The MSD's maybe 1/4" to 1/2" too long. May have to go to universal and cut them to fit. And then again with a new set coming just replace as necessary.

CRAP! does this problem exist with brand new MSD sets? I just ordered a set, next day air, to install today.. If I'm gonna have an issue, I may as not install the MSD's and go with the Taylors...

Does anyone have a picture of the taylors, with the sleeves???

Here you go, Tom. Taylor Thundervolts with Fire Sleeves. Fire Sleeves are rated to 1200 deg. F. I was running Magnecors when I initially put on my headers. The Magnecors are shaped just like the stockers and a few of the spark plug boots were touching the headers so I ordered the Taylor 10.4mm wires. Many here have commented that they've had no problems running these and other wires but I opted for peace-of-mind. :)

Thanks for the info. I think I'll go out to Thunder Racing and see if I get the Fire Sleeves seperately and put them on the MSDs since I have a replacement set on the way.
