fuel gauge drops below empty
Hi everyone, New here and this is my first problem question.. I have a 98 coup. Driving last weekend my gas gauge dropped to below empty, Check gauges came on and chimed at me. I know it was wrong because i had just filled up with gas. The car is unmolested. Completely factory original with 86,560 miles. It has happened twice now. When i park it a few minutes and restart its fine, but now twice it has happened. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

C5's seem to have a common issue with the sending units inside the gas tanks, they build up oxidation. Try using a few bottles of Chevron Techron to your gas tank, or next time you fill up use Chevron premium w/Techron. The additive, Techron seems to dissolve the oxidation buildup. This seems to cure most if not all of these types of issues. Try this first, as it worked for me.

Had a 2000 mile road trip and put a bottle of the chevron techron additive in with each fill up. So far so good. Gauge has not failed one time. Thank Guys for the advise!!
