Thinking about buying some new wheel bearings for my 04. Looking at Rockauto, they carry Moog, SKF, and Timken. All quality names, to my knowledge, but is there a preference? They all seem to be in the same price range, so that's not really an issue. Just looking for opinions based on experience before I pull the trigger.
I put Timken hubs on the front of mine around 2 years ago. Seem to be holding up well after 5 track days and lots of autocross and street miles. The *BEST* bearings are the fancy SKF ones that run around $300 each. I seem to remember my Timken ones were a bit over $100 each.

I have a rear hub that was supposed to be installed on my 04 but I totaled the car before I could replace it. It's brand new, but not in the box. If you are interested make me an offer.
I put these on a few years ago. About 30k miles. No problems. Factory bearings started to whine at about 70k miles. If you have never taken off brake caliper brackets that's an adventure. Factory used red loctite. I wound up taking the entire knuckle off the shafts so I could put impact wrench on caliper bolts and hub bolts.
I have had good luck so far with the cheap Chinese ones like UM Rebel posted on the rear of the car, but bad luck with them on the front. They do not last on the front.
SKF's standard replacement (not X-Tracker) are made in China now too. I bought a pair of them for the front before I knew this. If I had known, I probably would have bought Timken instead. Installed them anyway and they seem fine so far, but not many miles yet.
I know our local Corvette mechanic, who is also a forum member and may very well pop into this thread, likes Timken and uses them on race cars. I will probably use Timken the next time I need to replace a hub.

skf xtracker are the best but pretty steep, timken and the regular skf are now chinese made... they are probably still ok, I doubt they would risk their reputation on crap bearings but still... I was able to track down some oem gm bearings that were made in the usa so I bought those... I am in the process of installing those bearings with c6 spindles, extended wheel studs, new ball joints, rotors, pads, etc

I replaced a front bearing with a Timken unit about 7 months ago? Believe it said "MADE IN S. KOREA" on the box. I'll try and find it and see. Dunno about you guys but I trust a Japanese/Korean made product more then a Chinese made product.
