Default MAP sensor

Hello, all -
Something is making my MAP sensor fail. 3 times the dealer has replaced the MAP sensor which temporarily makes things right. Symptoms are transient and may or may not appear but inevitably it gets worse and the car stalls on the roadway. Symptoms: Rough idle, over rev, then revs drop, then power to the engine is reduced so I can only limp to safety at 20 mph. Big time sulfur smell. The dealer has only been able to diagnose it as MAP sensor failure but 3 in a row can't be right, can it?! Does anybody know what might be making the MAP sensor fail? Thanks for taking a look, guys! The car is a 2002 C5 coupe with vanity plate DVLSDRM.
