Default HELP!!! Timing & Fuel Trim Constantly Adjusting!

….that what the dealer said when I brought it in.(before they put a 2” scratch in my headlight cover… but that is another story completely) :mad

I have an 01 C5 w 10K miles that has a significant miss when the engine is warm. It seems to run fine for the first 4 or 5 miles, although I know I am running rich because of black smoke under acceleration. After that the car shakes at idle and misses while accelerating up to 2500-3500 rpm at which point the missing quits and seems to fire on all 8.

I just bought this car and according to the seller it was perfect… “actually better than new” so I can’t give you a history of this problem beyond the 150 miles I have owned it. The only thing I know is that the former owner did burn a plug wire at one time.

The car has the following mods:
MTI B1 cam,
MTI valve springs,
Underdrive pulley,
TPIS Headers
Grantenelli MAF
Nology Wires w the insulator socks
Corsa Indys Pace Car

Jason at MTI suggested changing the wires and plugs first, and I am going to do this later today. Does anyone know how to test the coils or the pre-coil circuit if the plugs and wires don’t fix the prob?

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
