I just received an Elite Catch Can and on the top barb I can't get it to rotate all the way back around and point towards the motor. It is super tight before it gets that way (FYI, I'm using a wrench to tighten it). If I back it off to where it points towards the motor it can be moved by hand still? Is this ok to have it semi loose or did I get a bad one?
I used Teflon tape and that made it snug within 1/2 of a rotation, so I had some wiggle room. I used the tape on both threaded connections.
Sometimes however it can be more appropriate to utilize liquid thread sealant. This cures within 24 hours and will provide an excellent seal where you need the fitting to locate. Also keep in mind that the PCV system is not under high pressure.
Thanks guys! I did finally get it to line up correctly.
Let me know if you have any questions on routing it.
And here is a year long test of the effectiveness of the cans design. Elite E2-X vs Mishi: (long read, but this person did a very detailed and accurate test to show how anyone can est any catchcan design).
