How do you get rid of knocking without pulling timing?
Hi guys,
Lately, I notice a slight knocking on the higher rpm range. I am wondering if there is a way to get rid of it without pulling timing. The reason is because the Diablo Sport for my car is not out yet (I have a 98) and I want to wait for it.
I have tried putting in a mixure of 91 OCT and 100 OCT but I still hear it sometimes.
Tried Octane booster as well but don't want to keep buying them all the time.
Would colder plugs help?
How about increase the fuel pressure to richen up the mix? I am at 60 psi now but the computer will eventually tune it back to correct air/fuel mixure right?

Take a look at your long term fuel trims using Autotap or equivalent; you can try for a richer mixture at WOT. Kewlbrez has a really good writeup on the whole issue at: http://www.vetteguru.com/
Also, you can try narrowing the gap on the plugs. I noticed that you have a few mods :D. I have heard that you should narrow the stock gap .004 for each additional 50 hp.
If you go with a cooler plug like the NGK TR6, it is gapped at .035 vice the stock ~.055.

As a quick fix, unplug your IAT sensor and insert a 1K Ohm resistor in the connector. It will cause the computer to think that the outside air is much hotter, therefore changing the timing curve. Good luck
