GM clutch fluid
I went to my local dealer and they did not have any of the GM clutch fluid in stock. They told me that they would have to order an entire case even if I just wanted one 16oz bottle. They will sell just one bottle and they quoted me $16.50 for a 16oz bottle. They said that they would search the other dealers in my area to see if anyone has a case in stock. My local dealer said he could have another dealer ship a bottle to him.
Pepboys has a 12oz bottle of Valvoline synthetic Dot 3/Dot 4 brake fluid sitting on the shelf for $2.50.
Not sure which to use. Some people see to think that the GM fluid should be used.
GM requires DOT 3 brake fluid to be used in the hydraulic clutch system. I have removed the oem fluid and replaced it with the Valvoline snythethic you have mentioned. I also bought mine from Pep Boys. Other forum members use another product called something blue (can't remember the product name - maybe others will chime in). Considering I don't race on a track, the Valvoline version suited me the best.
Do you guys who run regular brake fluid in the clutch still get the black goo?
Valvoline Syntec in mine; no black muck, but I doubt if the original was attacking some rubber parts in the system, because that would then be prone to leaks, something I've not heard any problems about.
