Default Steering lock stuck in LOCK, Help Needed

I just got an 03 Z06 today and the dreaded steering lock is stuck in the LOCK position.

The wait 10 seconds messege comes up as does the service steering lock messege.

I have a Tech II and tested the motor and nothing, you can hear the relay in the BCM sending the info to the lock but its dead,, I have tapped it with a hammer and if I hit it hard enough I can get the weel to turn to the next lock position.

I can easily grind off the lock pin if I have to

What are my options? I would really appreciate any help, in the past I have just installed a bypass as the system has been unlocked on my other vehicles but this one has got me?

I have a spare bypass kit here.

Thanks in advance

LMC5 MODULE is what I used. Cheap and easy to install.

Since yours is locked already, you may need the LMC5 Unlocker also.

Thats like an extra 6 bucks.

Hammer?? Dude WTF?

Get the LCM5 as mentioned. 30 minutes of crawling under your passenger side compartment and you will NEVER have to take a blunt object after your car (well at leatst for a steering issue) again.

Well the LCM5 with the additional unlock kit worked a charm, I didnt think it would as it was stuck in the lock state and I know the lock relay was probibally toast, I have fitted many LMC5s before but none to a car that was stuck in the lock state,, a BIG THANK YOU to all those who have offered advise,, I greatly appreciate it

I'll just throw this in to the discussion. The "Unlocker" from Compliance parts works like a charm when dealing with a locked column.. Can't over estimate the value and effectiveness of the LMC5 and Unlocker combo.

Oh I totally agree,, I see what it does by applying power direct to the motor with the BCM disconnected but Richard is awesome at Compliance I would recommend him to all C5 owners

I have done this MOD so many times but never with an already stuck and locked column

Only time it would be an issue is if the motor was defective then you have a little more messing around to do

I have re ordered another KMC5 as I keep them on the shelf as I do mess around with a lot of corvettes
