Default Fog lights wired as running lights???

Does anyone know if this has been done... Or why it should NOT be done:

Could generic fog lights be added and wired into the DLR wiring so they are on all the time as running lights - with NO switch to activate them?

I would be using something like this... LED/COB Angel Eye type fog/running lights, 10W each / 20W/pair.

My car does not have (and has never had) factory fog lights.

If you tie them into the DRL wiring, they will probably blink with the turn signals. The DRLs use the turn signal element.

Ugh, didn't think of that.
Thanks. I should have known that'd be too easy.

Depends how/where you tap in. Due to having DRL's the turn signal wiring is not simple, and you would need to settle down with the diagrams in the repair manuals to sort out how to tap in - and where to put relays, diodes, etc. I also seem to recall that there is some rule somewhere that says fogs can't be used as DRL's. Maybe its a state regulation somewhere.

Radio Flyer a forum vendor may have the answer.

Y'all are Overthinking it. Just wire the fog lights to the fuse box on a switched circuit.
Ignition on/ fog lights on. Simple.

Probably need a relay to make that work, or risk blown fuses.

yes. All precautions should be taken when installing supplemental lighting and electronics. adding a switch, fuse and relay on its own circuit is way easier than trying to tap into the factory DRL / turn signal. IMO

But how often are turn signals on. 90% of the time they are not in use. So it flashed when you turn. I put some led strips on mine and I love it. Got them at Autozone and double stuck them at the bottom of turn signal housing. Wire splice into the DRL line.
