Vert glass potential issue. A fix before it falls?
I took my 98 vert to have the windows tinted and the shop said that the bottom of the rear glass is weak. Possibly fixing to separate. It's still intact and does not leak. Any way of reinforcing it now without removing the top and keeping it from separating the rest of the way?
they said the top of the glass is still strong.
My window was partially detached. Here is what I did to fix my window last year with RINO glue. Still holding with no problems.
Bought Rhino Ultra Glue and “Universal Vacuum Clamps” (six in a box) on the Internet.
Unlatched the top to loosen the fabric. Supported the top with a piece of PVC piping. Stuffed pillows against the window from the inside.
Removed the old glue stuff from the glass using a glass scraper. Cleaned the fabric and glass with rubbing alcohol and glue remover. Masked the outside fabric as a protection against any glue run off. Glued glass top first using all 6 clamps. Clamps stayed on for 12 hours for each application.
I am still not getting my answer though, but I do appreciate the write up very much.
Did you remove the glass the rest of the way and start fresh, or did you apply the glue to the partially attached window?
Yes, I removed all the glue from the glass and top fabric on all sides. If some glue finally let loose, the remainder is not far behind. It is import to clean completely. Hope all goes well
