Headlights often don’t open on first start-up at night
I’ve owned my ‘01 vert. since new, and in 17 years and 56M miles, I have had very few actual problems with it. One that I am experiencing currently is very annoying to me, though.
About half the time when I start the car at night, the headlights fail to pop up when I release the parking brake (the car is equipped with Window Valet). If I shut it down and reset the brake, then restart it and release the brake again, they usually open on the second or third attempt. Only once have I had to resort to using the manual openers.
I know that many electronic faults are caused by poor grounding, but there are so many grounding points, I doubt I could find them all to clean and tighten them anyway. I doubt that the Window Valet could be causing the problem, as all the other features associated with that device operate as they should.
Might anyone have experienced and corrected the same problem, or at least have any suggestions in this regard? Thanks in advance!
I also have the Window Valet for almost 4 years and only programmed the window up/down function. Never had a problem. If you programmed other functions, just maybe these functions somehow became corrupted. Suggest removing the Valet from the OBD-II connector and see if your problem is solved. If yes, maybe going through the learning process of the Valet again with help. Hope you solve your problem.
