Yesterday while driving my 2002 C5 convertible on the highway my check engine light appears. I drove home and had the problem diagnosed as a P0102 and P0112 …….. The Mass airflow and temp sensor was bad. I replaced this part today, disconnected the battery to clear the code, and took the car for a ride. The car still jerked a little but no engine light. I took it out about an hour later drove about 15 miles, parked it about 5 minutes, restarted the engine, and noted the check engine light was on again but drove it about a mile this time and the temp gauge hit the red line. I waited awhile and disconnected the battery again and restarted with the engine light on and the temp gauge at redline. I drove the back home this way (about 13 miles) and parked the vehicle in the garage where it sits on a beautiful 90 degree day in Michigan
I might add the water pump and thermostat was replaced a couple years ago
Anybody have any similar problems, if so, how did you rectify it. Also did I do any damage by driving it home?
Thanks for all the insight and your comments.
I had a similar episode with the same codes (I think) last year. So I decided to clean my MAF. Still the same codes. Then I read on the forum about someone having the same issue and it was resoled by making sure the gas cap was correctly tightened. By any chance, did you recently get gasoline? Just saying. Hope you are able to correct is issue.

Thanks for the input but I did check the gas cap and even bought a new one so I ruled that problem out too. Also the gas cap would not cause the temp gauge to redline that I know of.
If you had some diagnose the problem as the two codes you posted, you apparently do not know how to pull the codes on the C5 yourself.
Suggest you read further and spend a few minutes learning how to retrieve the codes and then post the ones your car has stored. Without codes we can guess all month long.
If you have never pulled codes on your C5 here is how:
Post ALL the codes including the H or C or HC after each 5 character code. List the codes under the sensor they show with. is 10 - PCM or 28 - TCS or 40 - BCM ..... etc .....
If any sensor(s) have NO COMM next to them post that also.
Many here can help you understand the meaning of the codes your car may have.
Thanks for the info 8Vette7. I will review the info you provided and attempt to get the codes tomorrow following the procedures you outlined. In addition I will post them ASAP.
I should also say that I am not a mechanic but will try and do a job if not too detailed or if I am provided information. Thanks again

Loose gas cap has NOTHING to do with the MAF sensor !!...FAKE NEWS...LOL !!

If you replaced the MAF sensor and IAT sensor without checking power and grounds you probably have the same DTC’s !!...”garbage in, garbage out” !!...Temp has nothing to do with the “money light” coming back on again...I’d pull the codes again to see if the 0102 and 0112 are there !!
8Vette7.... I took your advice and ran the diagnostics as you suggested and they are detailed below. (Thanks again for the instructions)
