Default Techron?

This is a noob question so please be patient.
Many years ago I attended an "Under the Hood" class at the local Volvo dealership (I had a Volvo) and they recommended Techron and ONLY Techron as a gas additive.
Would that advice apply to my newly acquired C5? If not, what do you recommend?
Thanks

Techron is a big favorite on this forum. I use it a couple times a year but remember you need to get your fuel level down to around a quarter tank so it will blend thoroughly when you fill up due to having two tanks. there are other additives but this helps with any fuel gauge problems that may want to occur.

For a while Techron was the official GM recommendation. Not sure if it still is or not.

Techron works great to help solve some fuel system problems such as clogged injectors or to clean up the lines. One thing you should do is to replace the fuel filter before starting any treatment with a fuel system cleaner. Did you get any information from the PO as to when the filter was changed last or if there were any indications of fuel system problems?

If its available in your area, I would also suggest using either Chevron or Texaco premium grade gas exclusively. Techron is included in that gas and it will help to keep the fuel system clean without having to add bottles of Techron. Techron certainly helps if there is a problem, but using gas with Techron can reduce the frequency of adding a bottle every so often.

Thanks all.
I do know the PO and he gave me all the receipts so I can check those and ask him if I have a question. He's the husband of my wife's life-long friend and I'm certain he revealed all known "issues" when we bought the car last year: Dim HVAC (I fixed myself) and torn stitching on driver's seat side bolster (took it to an upholstery shop). He did not mention any fuel system problems so I'm confident there were none. I'm thinking more of "preventive maintenance".
I did not know about changing the filter first, so that's good to know.
Don't see many Chevron or Texaco stations around here. I usually get Sunoco or Delta.
