I have a 2001 C5 convertible and for the last couple years I have been getting a raunchy odor from my heater. I finally went out to the garage after I just read the thread on cleaning the udders and checked them out and they are all clean. My question is what could be causing this terrible odor. Am I missing something here? I don't have mice or rats here and I think that if it was a critter causing the problem then it most likely would have stopped after a couple years. My Vette has not been wet inside or out in over 10 years. My top has not been up in over 7 years. Sorry for the length of this.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
Fred
I agree that a critter smell would subside after a couple of years. It would still be worth checking the squirrel cage to see if there is something in there.
What you could do is take a solution of Pine-sol and pour it into the cowl while the HVAC is running. The air intake is in there and it will suck the scent of the Pine-sol into the ductwork. I sometimes use peppermint extract for the same purpose. Seems to help freshen the air ducts.
