Hello to everyone,
I have a 2002 base coupe. While driving down the road (no bumps - very smooth) with the cruise control on it will drop out. Sometimes it alerts that the active handling is on usually nothing shows up. At other times the active handling alert comes on and says it needs servicing. It does not set any codes though so when I take it in to a shop or dealer they cannot find any problem. Are these related and how can I get this remedied? Thanks in advance.
Dollars to donuts you have a bad Steering Wheel Position Sensor. You may or my not have codes. Try turning active handling off and see if cruse control remains engaged.
I have found several codes in four areas. 10-PCM No codes; 28-TCS Code C1287H; 40-BCM No codes; 58-SDM No codes; 60-IPC No codes; 80-Radio Codes U1064H, U1096H & U1016H; 99-HVAC No codes; A0-LDCM Codes B2282H & B2284H; A1-RDCM Codes B2203H, B2205H, B2283H, B2285H, B2265H & U1064H; A6-SCM No codes; B0-RFA No codes
After seeing all these codes I am shocked. I did not expect to see thaqt many. I can understand the almost repair shop not finding them but a dealer not finding them scares me. Again thanks to everyone for all their help.
The right window codes I expect to be due to a loose power connection for the window and door locks in the driver's door. That has been fixed and that problem has gone away. Is there a GOOD shop/dealer in the Scottsdale AZ area to take it for the other code problems? I am here on vacation for another couple months.
Many thanks. The car is from Northeast PA and sits most of the winters and the battery did need to be recharged. A battery tender sounds like an excellent suggestion and will be done. I will also be happy to take it for a nice long cruise after getting the battery load tested. Next up will be replacing the SWPS. Again thanks for all the assistance.
Try lifting the brake or clutch pedal with you foot. I had a 2006 that the release switch on the clutch needed adjusting an it would do the same thing.

My 03 would jerk slightly as it disengaged the cruise control. Ended up being the SWPS. This is what I found after changing it.
