Default c5 radiator fan removal

ok I have searched on here on how to remove the radiator fans and the best thread that I saw was Mr. Bills thread which someone posted up the GM manual on how to do it. I have done all those steps however I cannot get the fans out! they are currently loose and flopping around in there but I cannot for the life of me get them out unless I do a lot more work than I really want to do. the manual says lift the assembly out well I cannot do that because the fan motor on the driverside is hitting the ABS bracket. I cannot drop that side because the fan motor hits the sway bar. I saw someone say to lower the passenger side but again the fan motor is hitting the sway bar. It might be easier to remove the entire radiator first I guess then you have room to move the fan shroud forward but I really didn't want to do that if I didn't have to. Any suggestions?

ok here is an update. n I ended up removing the radiator. It turns out most of the work was already done.the only thing that was left to do was to remove the AC condenser and that is held on similar to the radiator fans. they just slide down in front of the radiator. Once that was done there was a small bracket that was underneath the lower AC line going to the condenser. I was able to wiggle that around just enough to get that bracket to clear the line then the radiator came right out. I have a manual so no tranny lines had to be removed. also previously I did not remove the air box so I went ahead and popped that off. After the radiator was out then it was easy to get the fans out. While I had the radiator out I figured it would be a good time to clean the front of the radiator and the AC condenser so a small added plus to doing this

I'm going to leave this one open for a while to see if someone else has something to add that would help out others that may need to do the same thing. Glad you got it figured out and moving this to the C5 Tech section.
