Since I've put in a new torque converter & gears I've experienced a shudder in the engine once the car warms up and is running around 5300 RPM under WOT. I recently have also noticed the transmission was leaking and I just received the phone call that the torque converter has a pin hole in it. I thought that I had 2 different problems, but now I wonder if this is not the same problem? Could the shuddering be due to loosing pressure in the TC?
You may have what is called Torque Convertor Shudder (amazingly enough!) Basically for a number of possible reasons the clutch can lock and unlock numerous times per second causing a vibratiion in the drive line. They go into it quite well on Yanks website and they recommend this product to cure shudder.....However if you have a pinhole in it I suppose a repair or replacement is taking place. http://www.lubegard.com/automotive/trans_atf.html
Yes, I'm getting the replacement TC now. Reading up on "torque converter shudder" and knowing that I was losing pressure due to the leak makes me fairly confident that I don't have an engine problem as well.
