Default clutch weirdness!

Has anyone seen this before? I'm replacing clutch disc and pressure plate. The left PP is a monster stage 2 and you can see how the PP ring is bigger than the new spec 091. The monster is 64mm wide the same ring thickness as the companion disc. The SPEC is 54mm wide with a 64mm wide companion disc! As the SPEC disc wears a 10mm ring of friction material will not wear. What a strange design. Also the PP holding power will be less with a smaller metal friction ring.

Has anyone used these SPEC clutches? are they just junk?
