Maybe when you sprayed the cleaner into the part it cleaned some crud off the optical reader of the encoder part of it?

Still driving around and still no error codes. Looks like problem is solved.

Found out today a friend had codes but tried to clean the sensor..not sure how he cleaned it exactly but he has not had problems since

One year today I have had my C5. I cleaned the SWPS with DeoxIT and it has not thrown a code since I cleaned it almost a year ago. Guess cleaning it worked or at least something did. Anyway, I'm happy. Just giving ya'll an update.

Thanks for the update. Hope this will work for someone else with the same problem on the later cars. Cannot hurt to try before replacement.
